Hi
I have just noticed the horn/ tweeter is not working on my 1454 , tone honest I have only just noticed but it could have failed some time ago, the capacitor was changed when I had the 15” field coil speaker re coned about 2 years ago, I have checked the continuity on the wire leaving the cap to the pole on the horn, and the same on the wire from horn pole to plug pin.

Hi Eddie
I have rectified the issue thanks, it was the grip cam limit switch, on initial viewing it did look ok but I managed to ease the switch out to take a closer look at all the contacts, some looked oxidised so I cleaned all and it’s working fine, your help is greatly appreciated thanks again

Hi Eddie
Thanks very much, I have had a good luck at the no 7 limit switch which does appear to be working ok, but I’ve not looked at the cancel relay in the control box, hopefully it’s that which is causing the issues
Thanks again
Regards
Andy

Hi
Just recently and without warning my 1454 does not mute the amplifier before placing the tone arm on the record, this is causing an audible crackle as the needle passes over the cleaning brush.
When the record ends the mute appears to work, I have re set both micro switch 3 and 4 and cams which are situated to the left of the gripper assembly, both are working ok the juke selects and plays t

Hi
I have a Rockola 1454 that does not select no 6 , 46 or 86 this has only recently been discovered as they are b sides and seldom selected, I have spayed behind the buttons but to be avail, I’m not 100% sure how long these have not worked but they do make the correct selection noise but nothing else.
I’m thinking it could be the selection assembly but have no idea of how to strip and clean a

Hi
I am experiencing quite a lot of motor noise from the gripper motor on my 1454, it’s working fine but I’m not sure what maintainence I can do to keep it running ok, I’ve checked and lubed the gripper unit and all runs freely with no issues, any info or advise would be greatly apreciated

Hi I am wantingg to fit a magnetic cartridge to my Rockola 1454, does anyone know the best an easiest way?
I can buy an external pre amp and power supply for £20 but would ideally like to use the Rockola power, this would enable me to use the single socket
Not being that confident with amp wiring I would prefer not to strip the valve amp down
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thank

Hi Charlie
Sorry must have not made it very clear, the brass bushes have been replaced on either side of the armature, these items are sold on this site, they are pressed into the top and bottom castings either end of the armature.
I replaced these items due to warbleing on some records, I have found that since replacement I have been getting more warbling but the armature has less play, there

Hi
I have been having trouble with my turntable motor, it has been worn which I identified as the 2 brass grommets, I have changed the grommets and cleaned the motor up as a replacement was £350, the issue I’m having since the rebuild is every record now warbles, this was an issue before but since the rebuild this is far worse.
I noticed the motor has a spacer which slides on the top of the mot

Hi
I have a rockola 1454 and it runs really wall had a few problems in the past but only one issue is outstanding
The problem is the juke plays slightly fast, I purchased a new spring on this site some time ago along with grommets to cure a running noise problem, the spring was too long most probably because the motor or something was non standard, I cut the spring down and noticed less runnin

Hi Hildegard
Thanks for the reply
The amplifier was rebuilt about 5 years ago
The idler wheel and grommets have been replaced so are in good order, I pull the tone arm plug out of the amplifier and the hum disappears , I am thinking the issue may be a bad earth somewhere
I have replaced the cartridge for a better item from the jukebox man, the old one was a red plastic basic item
The Cable

Also forgot to mention, when the tone arm lands on the record it's quite loud so maybe the micro switch to turn the amp on is coming on too soon

Hi all
I have a rockola 1454 jukebox, all plays great and has the original speaker which has been re coned, there is a slight issue with hum, I know it's a valve amp but just how audiable should the hum be ? It's noticeable on a quiet intro more and less apparent as if I pull the tone arm cable out of the amp, is there any advise anyone can give
Thanks in advance.

Hi all
I have experienced an issue with my rockola 1454 it's not all the time but intermittent
When I have used the juke for an evening on occasion the record refuses to return, or returns very slowly to the carousel, I have also pressed the cancel button on this does not work.
This has only happened a couple of times, the first time the carousel motor was really hot.
But I had left the

Hi all
Would just like to recommend the fantastic work carried out on my Rockola 1454 speaker, the original Jenson has been re coned and sprayed and looks new
But after replacing with a modern Jenson temporarily an re fitting the original yesterday, the sound is superb, lovely warm bass.
I would recommend both Marin and Shirley's work to anyone.

Just one more question, sometimes the carousel stops momentarily when turning then starts again could this be linked to the switch you were talking about

My Rockola is now working but one minor issue happens from time to time, the juke is on free play and has plenty of credit, but on occasion the jukebox does not select, as if it's not credited.
I can fix this by sometimes just rotating the selection drum but this isn't 100% successfully.
The other way which appears to work is to move the switch into loading mode and re set the switch

Hi Charly49
Thanks for the info, I am in the process of checking the grip cam limit switch, I dismantled it and noticed a lug in cantact with another, I have stripped it straightened all the leafs and cleaned.
When I assembled the switch again it will not enter the slot on the grip cam slot, I may have reassembled incorrectly

i have now got the jukebox going,i replaced both micro switch 3 and 4 after initially getting them wrong way round, also there was a piece of plastic broken off the end on the grip cam limit switch, i have repaired it using a small piece of credit card( expired) after offering it up the the broken one to get the slots in the correct position, so the switch now clicks correctly.

Hi Charlie
I tried this and it did appear to click and now rotates the carousel, but I still get the audible noise and the tone arm appears to be restricted in its movement by the casting at the rear of it
