Prestige 120 (1970) rejects all records

Hello!

My friend's got a Prestige 120 (from year 1970). It had not been maintained for a while. I cleaned and lubricated the carriage, changed TT rubber belt. etc.

Otherwise it seems to work, but when it starts to play a record, it rejects the record before playing starts.
It picks up the record, needle drops, but then needle rises again in a few seconds and it puts the record back.

Any ideas where to look for the problem? I have some experience in NSM (I got a newer Prestige myself) but I'm not familiar with these older electro-mechanical models.

Hello Kaakko,

please have a look at the coupling solenoid (it's also marked with "Stellungsmagnet") on the carriage. Take off the clip and remove the core (with the justating screw). Clean the inside of the coil and the core.

If that isn't the cause, I can give you other hints for this defect.

Thank you for this tip, it was new to me.

I checked the coupling solenoid core. It didn't seem to be too dirty and the core was moving smoothly inside the coil. So probably it is working ok. I'll clean it anyway.

Any other hints?
