Hey Guys,

Brand new into jukeboxes and i'm looking forward on working with them.

So I got myself one of these badboys today in a non-working state. First jukebox so pretty stoked about it.

Got the 130D.

Now any help would be great. It turns on and everything and accepts the 20c coins. The wheels spins but when you select the track it does not move. The back motor does not seem to do much. It has been in storage for a few years, they said it worked before going in there. So i wd40 it last night now the thing does not spin. Think there is grease on the rubber so it is sliding. .

Here is a video of it.

Sorry about the shaky vid. If you would like me to take more pics/vids let me know.

Appreciate any help.

Cheers,
Jake

Hi Jake,

Welcome to the forum.

Re jukeboxes in gerneral, DO NOT use WD40 or for that matter any spray of any kind, also do not use files, sandpaper for cleaning contacts and leave the metal polish in the tin.

Regarding lubrication, only oil as per your manual, some jukeboxes like Seeburg and Rock Ola need a fare bit of oil, NSM and Rowe Ami not so much (infact very little) with lubrication your manual will show you where, what and the amount to use.

If you let us know which country you live in we can best direct you for aid and parts. After saying that you can do no better than get parts from Hidegard & Oliver for your NSM.

Hi Jake,

Thank you for your location, I supplied a replacement Rowe Ami R-89 CCC to someone in Cooma, New South Wales only yesterday.
I only know of about four companies in Australia and two of them are in Tasmania.

I am sure that Erwin Boot from Flamingo Records is a forum member.

Go onto the sales section of www.jukebox-world.de as I said Hilegard & Oliver Stamann are very nice people and their site offers new parts be they old stock or new replacements, the archive, Forum, want & sale sections help people get the hard to get parts they need to finish a jukebox.

The jukebox community is a very small place we all tend to know each other and most of us try to keep all of those jukeboxes alive for future generations.

Awesome thanks for the heads up guys.

Only issue is I don't know what is wrong with it. Is there anything i can do to diagnose? or anything?

Cheers,
Jake
Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D

Hello Jake

On the front side of the mechanism is a carriage with a set of coils. In the rest position, this carriage should be quite right. When the small crank rotates, it should be moved to the left. The movement is limited by the solenoid to the left, corresponding to the selected number.
While watching the video I noticed that it is not so in your Jukebox. If I see it correctly, a spring is missing on the lever which connects the crank with the carriage.

Best regards - charly49

Just had a quick look. I can't see where the missing coil is suppose to be. Maybe i need a pic with an arrow. Sorry charly49 i'm a novice with these. I normally work on old arcade machines :)

Trying to see what is missing in this vid :) [www.youtube.com]

Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D
14.08.14 16:47
Hello Jake

I've looked at your first video several times. Now I think I was wrong. The selection process should work properly. It can be seen that a selector pin is set. The drive motor of the carriage seems to be running and the clamping arm (to hold the record) is positioned on the turntable. This means that the carriage is in play mode. But there is no record on the turntable. Therefore, the tone arm is not led toward the center of the record and the cutoff switch is not actuated. To stop the playback mode you press either the cancel button or you lead the tonearm by hand to the rear to actuate the cutoff switch. Thereafter, the carriage should put back the (non-existent) record and go to the next selected record to play it.

Best regards - charly49
Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D
14.08.14 21:33
Hey Charly,

Yeah I push the tone arm towards the carriage and this triggers another rotor but it does not move anything else. Not sure if the selection mech is "stuck". Not sure how to check this other then sticking my hand under and feeling around which i dont really want to do.

Cheers,
jake
Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D
15.08.14 09:24
Hello Jake,
generally I agree with Charly's diagnose.
"this triggers another rotor", what does that mean?
Question: is the motor still running?
If yes, push the elektromagnetic clutchs plunger in by finger, this should force the mechanism to end the play mode and the carriage to move right to the parking position and if a selection pin is set to start a search cycle.
Regards PitinWHV.
PS. A better, longer video will be helpful

15.08.14 10:03
Hey Guys,

When i push the tonearm in so it makes it think it is at end of the LP, it triggers another motor but this does not seem to do much.

The motor? As the spinning mech? Yeah it still runs. What is the elektromagnetic clutchs plunger?

I will def get some pics and a longer video on the weekend.

Cheers for the help guys and sorry for the novice questions.

Cheers,
Jake

Hello Jake,
ok., top of "loading pin" missing?
Perhaps lying somewhere at the bottom of the box?
Straighten the pin and install top.
Machine seems to be still in Play Mode.
Where comes all the dirt from, Nullarbor, dont forget to clean the machine.

Hey PitinWHV,

Ok cool i'll have a look around for that.

Yeah it is in play mode still. I have yet to try to push the Pl to see if that does anything.

What the best way to clean it?

He He nice one tongue sticking out smiley

Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D

Hello Jake,
top of "loading pin" is a tiny plastic part may be not easy to discover in all that rumble.
I use that sticks for babies ear cleaning, dipped in gasoline (the stick, not the Baby).
Regards PitinWHV.
Picture shows complete "loading pin".

Ok I had a look for it and could not find it. There was a few things in the bottom of the cabinet in a bag and few loose things.

Pics attached. Have take a few other pics from different angles also.

I pushed in the Pl and that kicked of another spinner. I did not have it connected into the uint when I tested this. But nothing happen the the loading arm when pushed in?

I've updated my dropbox with the pics.

Hello Jake,
nice Pictures, check whether there is a part ("Coupling" at the pict of your rare founds) fixed to the axis of the Motor.
This part connects the Motor with the rest of the machine when the elektromagnetic clutch is acitvated.
Regards PitinWHV.

Hello Jake,
before I run out of ideas one question.
Do you get this extrem useful "stanchion" (pic 1) that fits the hole at the mid bottom together with the box?
Maybe it is still stowed somewhere in the box.
You can mount the complete carriage on top of that "stanchion" (pic 2) and watch easily every action of the machine.
Regards PitinWHV.

Re: NSM Serenade Hit 130D
26.08.14 15:34
Hello Jake,
ok., see it now, should use my eye glasses permanently.
It is the single belt in the middle of the 3.
Remove the installed one and compare it with the one from your spare parts.
Than install the one that is in better shape.
To do this you have to remove the Motor, 2 screws.
Before installing remove all WD40 residues (that you use in posting 1) from the surface of the belt wheels.

"Than look for the rod on top of the amplifier compartment (pict 2) mark red", Done?
Regards PitinWHV.

Yeah had a good look and it does not look like the rod is there...damn :(

Ohhh replaced the drive belt... and poked and prodded tongue sticking out smiley And we have progression :)

It now can play a LP(if I manually chuck it in) it finishes it and the album goes back in. But it struggles along the rail.

I have uploaded a new video of it in action. it feels like the motor need a touch more horsepower :)

Hello Jake,
the item switches (mechanically) the carriage from Play to Search Modus.
Attached is a close-up pic of the select arm.
May be you find one at this forum (part market) or at ebay, but it will be easier to find a complete used carriage.
Good luck.
