Wurlitzer 2900

Hi, any help much appreciated.
My Wurlitzer 2900 has developed an fault, when a record is selected it will pick the record, then the needle will start to play then the arm lifts off and returns the record.
I am hoping its just a bad contact or something is sticking and needs greasing.
Can anybody advise me please.

There are two ways in which this error can occur. The purpose of the Mute And Play Switch is to stop the main motor when the play position is reached. If this switch is set incorrectly, the motor will simply continue to run and the record will be put back without being played. The Mute And Play Switch is the right of the two contact sets near the main motor. It is operated by a lever through the main camshaft.

The second possibility is that the Trip Switch (tonearm limit switch) or the Cancel button (on the amplifier) is permanently pressed.

Problem solved, it was the tone arm trip switch that had moved slightly.
