Would cause a previously working NSM city l to stop picking up records for playing, the carriage will move back and forth but will not pick up a record

does the display count the steps while the carriage is moving ? Does it only move once per dialed record ?

It counts the steps while the carriage is moving, it moves a couple of times per dialed record, is this something to do with the LR relay and trip solenoid

It looks like the solenoid isn't released. Do the numbers in the display make sense ?
When the carriage is passing the position, is the number right ( you can halt the carriage, but be very carefully!
When teh carriage passes the correct position, ist the relais active ?

My mistake it does not counts the steps while the carriage is moving, the number 68 is displayed in the display, it keeps moving back and forth, if i manually activate relay Lr the carriage will stop and take a record

Hey sean, then you have to check if the Opto-Couplers are still fine..it may have catched some dust, there's a dozen possibillities which may cause this to happen.
You may also check the end-switch on the right, whether it still opens and closes correctly.
