Wurlitzer 1650 Turntable rotating too fast

Would anyone know why this machine is playing records too fast?!! I got this machine which wasn't working and had the amp rebuilt. The rubber on the idler wheel was hard, wouldn't grip or rotate the TT so I got a replacement wheel. I replaced the Cobra cartridges also. The sound now is great, everything works as it should...except. Its playing the records slightly faster than 45 rpm and the pitch is raised on everything it plays both front and back. If the motor was malfunctioning I'd expect it to slow down?? I'm totally baffled.
