Import charges

Hallo miteinander
Habe eben einige Teile in USA gekauft und wollte mit PayPal bezahlen
Auf der Rechnung taucht die Import charges mit Summe x auf
Ist das Neu ? damit müsste ja dann der Zoll in Deutschland bezahlt sein oder ?

he used this option and in the end he had to pay import taxes when the item was delivered at his door

he tracked it all down and according to him this is what they do :
through different carriers it is shipped to the UK and from the UK to the Europian Union
this way avoiding taxes ( again : his words , not mine !!! )

last item I bought on Ebay ( U.S . ) was May this year
never encountered this option, never had problems with customs
seems odd to pay import taxes up front to a shipping company or a seller
for the taxes have to be payed in the receivers ( customer ) country

besides this :
I have shipped items to a friend in the US , and he sended me items
both of us did it the same way :
online printing of a customs form , place the form on the package , go to the post office , pay the fee
and thats it ( have to say : these were all thing below 30 euro value )

as it is a service they offer , perhaps the best way to avoid this service is to contact the seller
