NSM Consulette Soundmaster Compact vinyl jukebox

Please forgive me writing in English. I have a NSM Consulette Soundmaster Compact Jukebox which plays 45s, made in West Germany. I have managed to test the audio output by manually clicking the correct solenoids and getting it to play (it plays that way perfectly). However, when I key in the numeric record selection (which is a three number sequence) the second number goes away and is replaced by the third number. The jukebox will not "write in" to the carraige and will not make the carraige work. I do not have the instructions for the box or a service manual. When I close the door, "FrEE" is indicated in the screen, so I assume it is on Free play. I also do not have a "code" for the box- I don't know if I need that or not-I have no way of getting it. I restore antique tube radios and tube jukeboxes in my spare time, but this electronic one is a little different. I would be thankful for any help!!!
